Billabong OZ GROM CUP presented by Flight Centre – FAQ ( Frequently Asked Questions ).
The event is open to any boy or girl who is 17 years and under as at the 31st December 2017. You will need to have surfed for a period of time sufficient to give you surfing skills that would be described as being better than a beginner.
Billabong OZ Grom Cup presented by Flight Centre has the following divisions for both girls and boys: ( Parent Assist divisions are noted )
Under 8 Mixed ( boys and Girls )- Parent assist
Under 10 Boys –
Under 10 Girls – Parent assist
Under 12 Boys
Under 12 Girls
Under 14 Boys
Under 14 Girls
Under 16 Boys
Under 16 Girls
Your division will be determined by your age as at the 31st December 2017.
So if, for example, you are 7 years old and turn 8 before or on the 31st December, you will need to enter the U/10 Division.
As the groms safety is our number one priority so we will have flexibility and is subject to change before the competition starts each day. A Tentative schedule and Heat Draw of all divisions will be on-line at www.surfingnsw.com.au by the 10th April 2015. This will be TENTATIVE and after assessing the conditions of each morning of competition we decide the days running schedule.
NOTE – Every surfer will be surfing twice during the event including Round 1 and Round 2 ( Repechage ) or Round 3 and so on.. .
We will make the schedule available on Facebook Billabong OZ GROM CUP presented by Flight Centre Facebook page and on the Billabong OZ GROM CUP Hotline by 6:15am Daily on PH – ???? NB: any messages left on the hotline answer service will NOT be heard. This is solely an info hotline and not an attended phone line.
The evnt will start at start at 7:15am each morning and competitors will be given 5 minutes to paddle out or you will be notified Pre-Heat if Contest Director deems competitors need more time to paddle out.
At all times shall the next heat stay out of the current heats contest area. –STRICTLY!!!!! NO ONE PADDLES OUT THROUGH THE CURRENT HEAT!!!
The schedule for the day will be decided on each morning and then posted on the Billabong OZ Grom Cup presented by Kustom event link on the Surfing NSW website, Hotline, Facebook sites.
YES !!! When you enter the Billabong OZ Grom Cup presented by Flight Centre you are making a commitment to participate in your heats with the understanding that there are other kids who would have loved a start but missed out.
No, you can only enter one division and this is because of the number of people wanting to take part and the need to accommodate as many participants as possible.
Yes, we have parent assist in the Under 8 Mixed ( Boys and Girls ) & Under 10 Girls ONLY!!!
ONLY Parent Assist if your Grom needs it …..( PLEASE ALSO READ THE “ PARENT ASSIST RULES AND JUDGING CLARIFICATION SHEET “ BEFORE REGISTERING IN THE BILLABONG OZ GROM CUP TO SAVE ARGUMENTS AND BECOME CLEAR OF THIS EVENTS RULES).
It is also required for parents and guardians to verbally verify to the beach marshall if they are assisting the Grom before heat.
“Parent assist rules” will be clearly displayed at the beach marshall daily at the event.
The Billabong OZ GROM Cup presented by Flight Centre is a proud event and respect to other competitors while parent assisting is COMPULSORY.
Heat draws for Day 1 ( 13/4/15 ) will be published on the Friday afternoon before the event ( 17 April ) at wwwsurfingnsw.com.au on the Billabong OZ Grom Event link. A rough schedule of Day 2,3,4, and 5 will also be there for you to see.
As per Surfing NSW rules, you are eligible to be refunded if you pull out before 1 week prior the event. If you pull out the week prior the event you will not be refunded.
Yes you do. Your child cannot not be unaccompanied while at the event and adult supervision is the parents/ guardians responsibility.
YES, please register using the Billabong OZ Grom Cup presented by Flight Centre Reserve list link on www.surfingnsw.com in the events section. You will be notified at the latest on close of business on Thursday the 10th April if you have been officially registered. We will notify asap if we have any cancellations in the months leading up to the event.
YES ABSOLUTELY !!!
The Groms future are at the forefront of this events inspiration and all Competitors and Parents/ Guardians must strictly abide by the Rules and Code of Conduct in the SURFING NSW Rule Book.
